Destination Spotlight – New Zealand

If you think about traveling to the other side of the world for your vacation, you want to be sure there is something worth seeing there, right? Fortunately, it has New Zealand. Here are the top five places.

Taupo Lake

Taupo Lake is located in the center of North Island of New Zealand and is one of the most popular tourist areas. More than 1.2 million tourists visit the lake every year. It is Australia's largest freshwater lake and is about the same size as Singapore.

Napier

Napier Harbor in Hawke Bay. An earthquake in 1931 was largely destroyed by the city and was rebuilt in Art Deco style and is now a popular tourist attraction for Art Deco lovers around the world.

South Island

South Island is the largest two island islands. The island is extremely popular with movie buffs as incredible films filmed here, including Lord of the Rings and Chronicles in Narnia – the lion, the witch and the wardrobe.

The Islands Bay

The Bay of Islands is located about 150 miles north of Auckland. The islands are great for fishing and boat excursions, and are an ideal location for dolphins to swim. The islands are also historically significant, as European settlers came here. The first European to visit the area is Captain Cook, who named the region in 1769. Tongariro National Park

Tongariro National Park is the oldest national park in New Zealand. It was founded in 1887 and was the fourth National Park in the world. There are three active volcanoes in the park; Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe and Tongariro.
