As usual, when the hardware, Asus does not disappoint. The MYPAL A636N is not just a great PDA but its built-in GPS feature is the cherry on top. Since this is the first PDA device, you will find the frequently found features of PDAs that are integrated into the MYPAL A636N. Some of these features include Bluetooth, 802.11b / g connection, and Windows Mobile 5. Under the hood, the A636N 416MHz XScale processor features a 128MB flash ROM and 64MB of flash memory. Aesthetically, this FDA looks good as well. A brushed metal metal gun with a gray body. On the front, directly beneath the LCD, loudspeaker, GPS navigation controls and pocket PCs. Looking a little closer to the controls, note that the labels are sideways – this is because the MYPAL A636N is used horizontally in GPS mode.

ETEN is a fairly new brand for the South African market and the latest GPS does not disappoint. The G500 features a sporty, rather unique design that is about a science fiction film. The buttons on the front of the device touch the body and separate only one blue line that illuminates when using the device. Physically, this is not too big and it fits easily into his pocket. Your looks are also misleading because the ETEN G500 not only supports an integrated GPS receiver, but also a complete Pocket PC and mobile phone. We appreciate the fact that the product developer has chosen a built-in GPS receiver because the use of folding antennas may be cumbersome. Under the hood you will find a 400 MHz Samsung processor with 12 MB flash ROM and 64 MB of RAM.

The operating system that connects this system to Microsoft Windows Mobile 5. The package on the ship with the G500 is quite impressive and everything you need is immediately available from the box. It has not only an AC adapter and a USB sync cable, but also has a car charger and a bracket that allows you to control the GPS map. Despite the fact that the G500 does not ship natively any GPS software, suppliers, Just Mobile, HandyMap Al are packed with every device. Even though this PDA / mobile phone / GPS hybrid would render the need for multiple devices to be redundant, we were disappointed with the lack of Wi-Fi support, especially compared to some other devices in this round. By saying this, the ETEN G500 provides good performance and is sure to use some heads when used.

First let me tell you that I did NOT buy this GPS unit with the geocaching mind. I heard about the sport, but I never knew any inquiry about what it was until I bought the unit.

Overall, I think this is a good tool … There are a number of positive things and negative things about what I'm going to detail below. In the holiday season, I know these things are blowing their web site to provide space for the beefier brother, which is also available on their website.

Some cool things I like:

Color screen – Easy to read and even in sunny light I can not see the problem.

Downloadable aerial photos and USGS Topo maps – You can also pay for $$ on the map and in general GPS information and can download airfiles from the DeLorme website. It's a bit expensive and I've heard (not tested) that they are now offering an annual subscription to this information, which can save a little money.

Waterproof case and case – dropped into the pond and was not the least damaged. In fact, I did not even know that she knew she was in the water. When I threw it out and wiped it, it seemed as if it had not happened at all. The case is rubber, easy to handle, and I've thrown it without any problems.

Tons of Storage – I've never run the space on this thing, but I said I do not keep a permanent record of all the waypoints and numbers on the device. It has more than enough space (75 MB) for maps and aerial images, as well as the waypoints and caches you want to visit. You can also place a 1 GB SD card behind the unit (even waterproof).

Things I Do not Like:

Slow to Receive SAT Signal – I often find that I need to turn it off and try again satellite capture. Not sure this is just because I'm in the field, or if it's a firmware or software problem. This is a temporary problem, and I find you have a much better job of getting the signals if I do not move. There are several great software packages that will communicate with your GPS find cache etc. . Unfortunately, I did not find any of those who would communicate directly with the PN-20. Files must be loaded into TOPO USA and sent to the device. It's an extra and annoying step and I think it has something to do with USB communication.

Overall, it's a very good unit, especially at the prices I've been advertising today.

Do I have one more? It is very difficult to think that the download interface is a problem with other software. This unit must communicate to any software developer.
